Case Study

The Client:  Bankston University

The client is wanting to promote their Speaker Series. The University will host multiple speakers over the year and each part will feature a notable speaker who will highlight an activist from the past, how they impacted social justice, and what the speaker and/or society is doing to continue that work.

Target Audience:

The target audience is individuals between the ages of 16-55 who are looking to make a difference in the world through social justice reform and bringing both equality and equity to everyone.

The Problem:

Bankston University is having a hard time trying to determine the best approach to getting the word out there about its Speaker Series. Aside from publications on its website, social media platforms, and campus newsletter, the University wants to reach a wider audience than just its students.

Media Pieces:

  1. A 7-second motion video that highlights the Speaker Series that can be posted on the University’s website as well as its social media platforms.

  2. A postcard mailer that can be sent out to residents and businesses in the local area.

  3. A shareable social media ad that can be posted on both the University’s website and its social media platforms.

Design Process:

My design process was to come up with some collateral that the University could use in a variety of ways. I decided on a motion video and shareable social media ad for its social media platforms. I also decided to include a mailer postcard with information that the University can send out to residents in the area to bring more attention to its Historical Speaker Series. A lot of people search social media for things to do in the area, and those that look for such information in the mail can rely on the mailer postcard. The pieces helped the University in reaching its target audience and bringing awareness and increased attention to the Historical Speaker Series.

I chose warm colors to complement the image of Gandhi and the background image and two different typefaces. The header typeface was chosen to be bold and stand out to draw attention to the University. The second typeface is easy to read on the web and mobile and complements the first.
